Travelling adventures

Travelling around this world on different airlines can always be stressful funny. I can remember having to travel all the way from  Philippines to the United States.  It didn't bother me so much because I knew I can communicate with people in the English language. English is the  second language in the Philippines so that gives me a bonus.

The problem I had was switching flights in Japan. First you have to find someone that speaks English. Unfortunately, they don't speak English and I had a tough time understanding a sign language. Travelling alone has always kept me on edge, always checking the airport display screen to make sure my flight is on time. Thank goodness for today's technology with telephones I was able to confirm the flight was there. Today's technology is so great.

The tradesmen

I think my husband is right. He said the other day that so many of these college kids are taking technical courses that the jobs for technical professionals now is a losing career. You hear of so many college kids  coming out of college and the job outlook for them is very bleak. My husband said by the year 2020 it will be the skilled tradesmen  that makes 300 dollars an hour and the technical professionals will only be making a small income.

Achievements for our Little Buckaroo

We got up early this morning to get ready to go to the school for my son's recognition day. At five years old he is already been chosen out of three hundred kindergarteners for a district-wide recognition for his overall achievements in his class. Some of the abilities that they graded on besides his grade were  consistently does his best, work is of high quality, respectful toward others, class work is consistently turned in on time, works well with others, seeks assistance when needed, uses time wisely . The list goes on and on but we are very proud of our little guy. His nickname from Daddy is his "Little Buckaroo".

110CC Mini Truck

When my husband was a little boy he use to have a cast iron pedal tractor just like this except for this one has a 110 cc motor in it so the add says. The only problem is you have to ship it from China or that's at least the only place we found it online. Years ago over in the Philippines they had something similar to this that I seen one of the farmers son was stuck with it in a rice paddy.

Adventures by the creek

Finally we got out of the house with the assumption that spring is coming early. Its been a weird winter. I've never seen it jumping to the high 30's and low 40's through the whole month of February. Weirder yet we've had just about ten total inches of snow which just melts in a couple of days after it arrived here. My husband tells me that this is only the second time in forty years that he could remember.

We always take our journey down the small creek as we do we crossed the old railroad tracks that our son loves to watch the big trains going by. When we go to leave the railroad area we always pick up some small stones, we call these our wishing stones take them down to the creek and one by one we say our wishes and throw them in. Its been a tradition for many years.

Picky eater or not

When I was young there was eat what was on your plate or go without. There wasn't anything called snacks in the house unless mom made a desert. Once in a while my mom would make chocolate chip cookies. Luckily I was usually the first one home from school to get the first pick of those delicious cookies. These days with my son it just seems that there are too many snacks in the house. We keep a lot of fruit on hand but he still craves for his squeezed tube yogurt. When it comes to supper we have to enforce the rules of eating what's on his plate. Most of the time he is very particular but at least he likes all sorts of vegetables.

Morning walks

Being inside the house all day can make anybody feel groggy. I opened the curtains and  unlike yesterday the warm sun of today feels good for a change. The temperature at 34 °F is not bad at all with bright sunshine is so inviting to go for a walk just making sure we're appropriately dressed for the weather.  We love going to a nearby creek past the railroad track. In there we can pick up small rocks to throw on the water and make wishes.  The wishes part is something my husband started when his daughter was very young on their weekend walks.

Gardening

I can't wait for spring to get here even though this has been the unusual winter with mostly no snow. That is just about unheard of in Central New York. Going outdoors and breaking ground again for my new garden with a new plan with different vegetables this year has got me so excited. Also we are planting pumpkins this year and I hope that they turn out huge. That will be fun.

Snowmobile stranded without snow

For the last three weeks and most of the winter before that our snowmobile has been stuck in the front yard. It looked like a small snow island that it had been deserted on. I thought for sure we weren't going to get anymore snow but at least today we're having about five inches of snow lake effect coming off Lake Ontario. So tomorrow Daddy will start the snowmobile up and move it closer to the garage for storage for next year. Of course after he rides it a few minutes.

Change in weather

Here we go again with our weather 35,40 degree day and then the weekend comes. I can't believe  that the high for today is going to be  15 degrees. We went  a whole  six weeks without a cold in the house. This weather going up and down always promotes colds and of course our five year old comes home sneezing on Thursday. Now its the beginning of everyone slowly getting sick in the house.

Chocolate stories to remember

I was in the kitchen making up a chocolate cake as my son ran in with puppy dog eyes just staring at the bowl that I was mixing. I asked him what he wanted and he said "mommy I'm just waiting for the bowl so I can lick it clean". Apparently Daddy had told him the story of his favorite times watching his mom mix up from scratch a chocolate cake and how he would wait hours if he had to to get his hands on that delicious bowl of chocolate mix.
